Don’t Get Caught Without Kleenex

This ad demonstrates what can happen when you get caught without Kleenex tissues. I think the creatives could have come up with funnier examples, but these will do.

Colon 101 Cleans 101 Stains

Here’s an unusual but funny ad for Colon detergent from Israel. You have to watch closely, but it includes a Mannequin American.

Fresher Breath Than Yours

Look carefully at this series of print ads for dog biscuits. Pretty clever.

Vintage Blatz Ad

Apparently being a “boozy mom” was not only acceptable in the 40’s, it was encouraged for health reasons.

Saving the World One Dude at a Time

If you're still wiping with just toilet paper you're a chump and your ass hates you for it. Here’s the Dude Products Story.

What Does it Take to Get This Guy’s Attention?

I think this ad is from Finland, but I could be wrong. If so, I apologize for my ignorance.

Okay so this girl wants to get this guys attention in the library, but the guy is so “focused” on studying that he ignores her. I assume what he’s drinking is responsible for his “focus” and for his ignoring the girl. But everyone else seems pretty taken with her moves. Click here to watch.

Vintage Ads That Wouldn’t Fly Today

From the “I can’t believe he did that” file comes the ATARI ad above featuring Stevie Wonder.

Yes mom was sure to “appreciate this gift 365 days a year.” With ads like this it's hard to believe that K&A Mop Buckets went out of business.

And yet another vintage ad that would create a social media fire storm today; but in the 50’s was considered quite proper.

Example of Targeted Advertising

“Why is it when you offer someone a sincere compliment on their mustache, suddenly she’s not your friend anymore?”

Top Beer Selling Holidays

Labor Day and Memorial Day rank as the No. 1 and No. 2 beer-selling holidays of the year, according to Nielsen data. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day last year, beer and malt-beverage sales topped $11 billion, according to the Beer Institute. And this summer, more than 38 million American households are expected to buy a cold beer.

Here’s a list of the top 10 beer-selling holidays:

  • Labor Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Christmas
  • 4th of July
  • Thanksgiving
  • Halloween
  • Super Bowl
  • Father's Day
  • Easter
  • St. Patrick's Day

Only in the Midwest

This commercial has a very targeted audience. I guarantee it doesn’t run in NYC.

Funny French Travel Ad

Ever get jealous that all you get are souvenirs that others who travel, bestow on you? Well, in this French ad for BBVA Frances, you get to see that frustration come to a head. My favorite is the guy who uses a golf club on a souvenir snow globe.

KY Lube Ad

It took me awhile to get the KY Jelly print ad above. But once I got it, it was really funny. Hint: the robber getting into the car slipped through the massive lines of law enforcement.

Hydrate the Hustle

Kevin Hart tries ventriloquism in this ad for Vitaminwater.

Talking Quilted Northern is for "Pampering"

Passion Buzz Kill

When you think of “toilet paper,” you probably don’t think of “passion.” But in this ad, a rather humorous talking Quilted Northern Ultra Plush roll claims “I am not for wiping; I am for pampering.”

Nissan Micra Ad is Shockingly Funny

This ad for a Nissan Micra probably wouldn’t fly in the U.S., but in a weird way, it’s funny.

When They Won’t Let Go

Lottery Ticket

These ads for Bobtail dog biscuits demonstrate what can go wrong when your pet “won’t let go.”

Celebrities Are Setting a Bad Example

Upset about his daughter's divorce, and convinced she was influenced by the poor example our celebrities are setting in that regard, J. Robert Butler bought some billboards.

The founder and president of the Society for the Prevention of Celebrity Divorce decided to use his own money to collectively wag his finger at Hollywood. And actually, the headlines aren't bad.

The billboards are up around Los Angeles and even on buses. But even Butler wonders if they'll do any good. "Will they have the desired effect and inspire celebrity couples to stay together?" he asks over at PreventCelebrityDivorce.org. "We pray they will, because the price of renting billboard space is high … but not nearly as devastatingly high as the price of losing a marriage."

Doritos: Chuckles the Dummy

The guy in this sick but hilarious Doritos ad “never dated a ventriloquist before.”
