Make it Easy for Everyone to Share Your Press Release

People are gathering information from all kinds of sources. You can share news on your website, blogs, YouTube and many other outlets. Companies are no longer solely dependent on journalists to get the word out.

Today, multimedia press releases use links, videos and images to tell the story ... and they attract attention.  Multimedia news releases typically attract three to five times more attention than the traditional news release. They allow audiences to engage with your organization and spread your message in the way they prefer.

A news organization may run the release verbatim. A blogger may grab an image. A prospect doing a Google search may send the video to decision-makers. The more options you give people to use your information, the more your information will be shared.

Stop Infantile Baldness and Facial Tramp Stamps

Out to solve every ailment imaginable including trench mouth, lazy ear, infantile baldness, bulimic insomnia, facial tramp stamps and a host of other problems, Saturday Night Live alum Kevin Nealon reveals, after a minute of straight-faced hilarity, that, yes, there are a lot of problems out there but there is one we can do something about.

It's a neuter, spay and adoption message from No-Kill Los Angeles and Kevin helps put things in perspective. Well, sort of. Now we're a bit confused as to where we are going to put our cause group kindness this year. Thanks, Kevin

Okay, this has to be the most unromantic guy in the world ... and he still gets a hot girl. Go figure.

Then I ran across this Hahn ad, and found a guy who was even funnier.

Here's one in a series of award-winning print ads for the Carlton Mid beer campaign. Just proves that a good visual with a clever tag will attract attention, be memorable and ultimately sell the product.

For Your Emmy Consideration ... Sex in the Kitchen

From my "what-is-sex-selling-this-week" notebook comes this ad for Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi ... "Who Wants to Lick the Spoon?" Nope ... no innuendo here. But, hey ... I may actually start watching Top Chef now.

Public Relations Continues to be Cost Effective Lead Generating Tool

Most marketers agree that, more than ever before, prospects are engaging with B2B organizations through public relations efforts. And one key to generating more leads is to make sure your marketing and public relations departments are on the same page.

It's important to understand there are many ways to spread the word about your company. You're no longer solely dependent on journalists to get the word out. You can share news on your blog, your website, social media, YouTube and other communication channels.

When you do manage to get some media coverage, be sure to use social media and other platforms to make the most of it. If you're not sure how to do that, seek out assistance from PR professionals.

Two print ads for Playboy Magazine with a tagline that could be taken a couple of different ways ... which I guess is the point, right?

Try to Contain Your Excitement

A department store in the U.K. took quite a bit of flack when the ad above appeared in an advertising supplement, recently. The ad is one in a series of similar ads for Harvey Nichols. Sadly the premise of the ad has been used before. (See below.)

The tagline on this ad says, "Passat. The Fastest Volkswagen. Who knew?" Much funnier than the Harvey Nichols version.

Clever Outdoor Ad

Here's an unusual ad with an easy to understand warning about the consequences of drinking and driving.

The half-cab/half police car was parked in front of a Savannah police station. On the back fender of the taxi-side it says: "This ride about $20.00." And on the front fender, police-side is says: "This ride = $1800.00+"

There is a new study about how women feel about their derrieres.
30% of women think their ass is too fat.
10% of women think their ass is too skinny.
The remaining 60% say they don't care, they love him, he is a good man and wouldn't trade him for the world.

Get more Media Coverage by Making the Lives of Journalists Easier

Here are three tips to help you generate more publicity for your company or organization.

Give journalists and bloggers only what they want ... stories they can use. Journalists and bloggers are very hardworking. They don't have a lot of time and they don't want information that's not relevant to what they're doing. Do your homework to thoroughly understand what the journalist or blogger is covering. Then provide the writers useful information that's easy to develop into a good story that applies to his or her beat.

Reporters want more than words. They want visual content, too. When writers have to choose between doing a piece that has no multimedia resources and doing a piece that includes them, reporters and bloggers are generally going to opt for using the multimedia content.

Audit your website. Is it easy for reporters to find the information they need, such as biographies, downloadable photos or essential company information? Click through your website as if you've never been there before. Pay attention to where the links take you. If you're a reporter on deadline at 9:30 p.m., are you going to be able to easily find the company address or how the CEO's name is spelled?

Here's a very short commercial that does its job quickly, thoroughly and humorously.

Coke Shares Good Deeds Caught on Security Cameras

This video shows what appears to be security camera footage of good deeds done the world over and it ends with a Coke sign off. It's the work of Coke Latin America and in the video, we see people performing random acts of kindness. You can't watch it without appreciating its positive outlook on life.

The video, which includes music from Roger Hodgson's "Give A Little Bit," was uploaded to YouTube on June 11 and it now has well over a million views.

Marketing Challenge of the Day ... ThingThongs

Imagine: you show up at a BBQ and it turns out it's also a pool party. But you didn't bring a swim suit. Bummer.

ThingThongs to the rescue. They're flip-flops that double as a swimsuit ... sort of. The elastic straps make it possible to wear on your body and the shoe part covers your ding-a-ling or hoo-ha. I suggest you wear two at once. One flip-flop for the front and one for the rear.

Vintage Ad from 1975

I have no idea what the translation is for this 1975 Honda Civic ad. (At least I think it's for the car.)  I hope the headline is as funny as some of the lines I came up with. I'm guessing the language is Japanese ... which makes the use of the western photo that much more confusing. But any lady who washes her car in heels is a winner in my book.
