A Puppet's Ramblings - from Chip Martin, Mannequin American Marketer

Irony in the News: The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the Parks Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us "Please Do Not Feed the Animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

Clear is the New Clever

Marketers take note: Here's a clip from The Naked Brand. The message of the movie is that companies should take the money that they have earmarked for marketing and put it into making better products. It's a very interesting video and concept. What do you think?

Viral Aids Awareness Campaign

Now this is an awesome viral idea: take advantage of a popular scam technique on Facebook to spread the "virus" of AIDS awareness.

On December 1st, the World's AIDS Day, popular Brazilian radio station Mix FM posted on its Facebook page two very sexy videos, featuring a gorgeous man and a very hot girl. A lot of fans were attracted to the videos and watched them, not being aware that the videos, without their permission, were automatically publicly posted on their Facebook timeline.

The message was sneakily viral exactly as AIDS is and delivered a strong personal message on the importance of never lowering the guard and always wearing condoms. The videos were watched over 6000 times before Facebook itself decided (unfortunately) to block the campaign.

Totally Gross Sodas

The guys and girls over at Avery Soda channeled their inner Garbage Pail Kids to come up with the flavor names for their new line of Totally Gross Sodas.

Loathe as you may be to drink something called Bug Barf (can bugs even do that?), Avery uses cane sugar instead of corn syrup, and every soda in this line is fruit-flavored, so it will probably be worth having to explain what you're drinking to your co-workers.
